Privacy Policy

Last updated: 7 February 2026

Ithaca ("the App") is a personal walking tracker that builds a heatmap of the streets you explore in London. Your privacy is important to us. This policy explains what data the App collects, how it is used, and your rights.

1. Data We Collect

The App may collect the following data, depending on which features you use:

Push notifications (e.g. weekly recap, exploration suggestions) are scheduled locally; no notification content is sent to or stored on our servers.

2. How Your Data Is Stored

All data is stored locally on your device only. The App does not transmit, upload, or sync your personal data to any server, cloud service, or third party operated by us. There is no account system and no remote database.

If you delete the App, all locally stored data is permanently removed.

3. Third-Party Services

The App uses the Google Maps SDK to display maps and heatmap overlays. When you use the map, your device communicates with Google's servers to load map tiles. This is subject to Google's Privacy Policy and Google Maps Terms of Service.

If you use Apple Health, data is shared with Apple's HealthKit in accordance with your device and Apple ID settings. The App does not use any analytics, advertising, or other third-party tracking SDKs.

4. Location and Permissions

The App requests location permission to function. You can choose:

You can change or revoke location, motion, health, camera, or photo library permissions at any time in iOS Settings > Ithaca.

5. Data Sharing

The App does not share your data with any third party. If you choose to share a walk (e.g. exporting a GPX file or walk bundle), you control who receives it through the iOS share sheet. You are responsible for any content you choose to share with others.

6. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will address it.

7. Your Rights

Since all data is stored locally on your device, you have full control:

8. Disclaimer of Warranties; Exclusion of Liability

The App is provided "as is" and "as available" with all faults. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we disclaim all warranties, express and implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, and accuracy of data.

Location, map, and route data may be inaccurate or incomplete. Do not rely on the App for any safety-critical, legal, or other decisions. Use the App entirely at your own risk. Stay aware of your surroundings when walking.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall the developer, its affiliates, licensors, or anyone involved in creating or supplying the App be liable for any damages whatsoever (including, without limitation, direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive, or exemplary damages; loss of profits, revenue, data, or use; personal injury; property damage; or any other loss) arising out of or in any way connected with your use of or inability to use the App, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Your sole remedy for dissatisfaction with the App is to stop using it and uninstall it.

To the extent that applicable law does not allow the complete exclusion of liability, our liability shall be limited to the maximum extent permitted by such law. Nothing in this policy is intended to exclude or limit liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.

10. Contact
